Spay Neuter Jackson County Alabama is here for you! Our purpose is to provide financial assistance and/or transportation to have your pets spayed and neutered so they live longer, healthier lives. Our mission is to reduce the large number of unwanted pets, end dog and cat abandonment in Jackson County and stop the euthanizing of healthy, adoptable animals at the Scottsboro Animal Shelter. Since 2017, we have helped spay and neuter over 3,800 cats and dogs! We currently have two ways to help you “fix” your pets.

Option #1- If you are on government assistance (welfare, disability, Medicaid, social security) or your annual household income is $40,000 or less, you may qualify for our income assistance program. You can fill out an application on our website by clicking on the apply for assistance button or,  at your request, we will mail you a simple, one page application to complete. Once it’s returned and approved, you will receive a voucher to use at one of our vets in Jackson County. You make your own appointment and take your pet at your convenience. Your cost for a cat spay or neuter is $30, and a dog spay or neuter is $40. For this program you must be a Jackson County resident and there is a 3 pet per year limit. You have 45 days to use your voucher. To request an application by mail, call 256-299-9726, send us a message on Facebook or visit our website at www.SNJCA.org

Option #2- We transport dogs and cats once (sometimes twice) a month to spay and neuter clinics. There is NO income or county restrictions for the transports. You pay what the clinic charges for the procedure, there is no charge for the transport. The prices are posted when the transport event is announced on our Facebook page and on our Transports section of our website. Our spots are limited so they usually fill fast. There are links on the Transports page to fill out an application for the transport you choose. Pick up and drop off is in the Scottsboro Shelter parking lot. Both clinics are excellent, and we take great care of your pet. Each pet is in separate crate with a soft blanket. We have proudly spayed and neutered over 1,420 pets with our transports!!

Option #3- We occasionally partner with local vets for special events.

We are strictly volunteers trying to help our neighbors and their pets and make our community a better place to live. Our funding is NOT from the county, state, or federal government. Our programs are funded solely by donations and fundraising eventsPlease consider making a donation. You can donate on our website through the donate button on our website or click here, on our Facebook page, or mail your donation to:  SNJCA, P.O. Box 972, Scottsboro, AL 35768.
